The Black Forest
Deep forests, open plateaus and sunny vineyards are typical for the largest contiguous low mountain range in Germany. In between there are beautifully cleaned villages, quaint inns and numerous sights. The heights offer wonderful views again and again before you dive into narrow valleys again. A lot of winding roads and little streets lead through the different landscapes, here even for connoisseurs there is always something new to discover.

The Black Forest is located in the southwest of Germany in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg and covers an area of around 6000 square kilometres. The densely wooded low mountain range extends west of the state capital Stuttgart to the Swiss border in the south and is bordered in the west by the Upper Rhine lowlands and in the east by the Swabian Alb.
The best time to travel is from April to October.
The maximum speed is 50 km/h in urban areas, 100 km/h outside urban areas and 130 km/h on motorways.
Motorcyclists are not required to carry warning vests and first aid kits.

Among the culinary specialities, the world-famous cherry cake and the famous ham are at the top of the list. Beers, noble brandies and mineral water are also known nationally, and Baden's wines enjoy an international reputation.
